Brent Black, CEG, RG, LHG
Senior Associate Geologist Brent has 34 years of engineering geology experience throughout the US with a specialized focus in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Mountain States. His areas of expertise include the investigation, design, and construction management of rockfall and rock slope mitigation projects including geologic rock mapping, rock stability, and rock mechanics for critical infrastructure including transportation, dams, and hydroelectric facilities. Brent has coordinated several large and/or logistically difficult subsurface exploration and instrumentation programs. His experience includes preparing drilling plans and plans of exploration for regulatory review, and he is familiar with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and US Army Corps of Engineers requirements for drilling operations that penetrate embankment dams. His recent work includes numerous projects to address risk assessments for rockfall at powerhouses and spillways. Dam safety modification studies to mitigate scour of rock at chute spillways has been another recent focus. Brent routinely manages projects in remote areas requiring considerable planning, coordination, and communications with a wide range of personnel, and he knows how to successfully foster working relationships with contractors and owners. |
