Engineering Geology Intern
Obinna's research intersects landslide geomorphology and earthquake hazard assessment. In the past few years, he has focused on reconstructing Holocene landslide histories in the Puget Lowland and the Gales Creek area to detect evidence of earthquakes on major crustal faults including the Seattle, Tacoma, Southern Whidbey Island, Darrignton Devil’s Mountain, and the Gales Creek Fault zones. By combining Lidar based landslide age-roughness modeling and radiocarbon dating, his research aims to refine our understanding of the timing and magnitude of crustal fault earthquakes in these fault zones.
